The year 2020 will go down as a very historic year in the history of humankind.
From the death of dearly beloved figures like Kobe Bryant and Chadwick Boseman, to the blow of COVID-19 Pandemic that caused a literal stop to global activities, down to the heat of activism against police brutality in countries across the world. We can rightly call 2020 the pandemic year.
We understand that such a difficult year as this carries with it a gift of lessons embedded in all the struggles. We believe that there are certain life lessons that you can only learn in the struggle. And this year has been a year of many struggles. A year of pains. A year of turmoil. A year of hard blows.
In the midst of and through all these we have lessons to learn. The struggles, the pains, the turmoil, the hard blows. They have all taught us lessons in ways we never imagined: subtle and apparent, big and small.
It is on this note that I therefore invite you to share your story — ideas, insights and inspiration from your personal life and experiences this year.
Simply put, what are the greatest lessons you learnt in 2020? With specific focus on the following aspects of life:
- Relationships & People
- Business and Career
- Money and Wealth
- Fitness and Health.
You can share lessons from any one of (or all of) these aspects of life. Depending on your time and how much you are able and willing to share.
We look forward to anything from 600 to 1200 words.
Personal stories are greatly appreciated. Telling personal stories where possible will help strengthen the impact of your words.
Please feel free to use your unique writing style but please stick to prose so that we can maintain unity of form among all entries.
Your entry will be published on our website (www.witsprouts.com) and will be shared free and accessible to everyone. We currently have social media following totalling across about 15000 Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and we intend to run several paid ads throughout the project so as to get it in front of more people.
Your entry will also be joined with other entries and compiled into a book titled Twenty-20: Stories and Lessons from the Pandemic Year. This book will be distributed to Amazon, Okadabooks, Bambooks and other digital book platforms.
Please understand that your entry is voluntary and as much as we will want to pay for the time you spent sharing your idea and for the insights you will share from your personal experience, we are unable to pay any fee as compensation at the moment.
We appreciate you to do this regardless, as a means of expression of self and also as a labour of love to all those who will read and be blessed by what you share.
When we publish the book on Amazon and other platforms, we expect to make sales. The proceeds we make from these sales will go into further promotions of this project and subsequent project that will follow it.
If the proceeds are substantial enough, we are strongly considering donating a part of it to sponsor some counselling, therapy and personal development training sessions for young people who seriously need it.
We will be publishing all entries in December, therefore we need to have all entries ready by November so that we can pass them through editing and processing.
We are therefore working with the deadline of Saturday, 21st November 2020.
How to Submit
Submission is easy-peasy. We have provided a form below for you to fill. Once you submit the form, your entry will be received and you will receive confirmation email within 24 hours.
Please note that as much as we want to, we cannot publish everybody. This is so that we can maintain the quality and standard of the anthology. We vet all submissions and we will only publish entries that meet the standard.
Ultimately, give your best into writing your piece. Be original. Be creative. With this settled, you entry will most probably get accepted.
